Mary was born in Toronto on June 14, 1924, to CJ and Marion (Newlove) Brackley. She attended BSS (Bishop Strachan School) for a time and graduated from the University of Toronto in Music. She married John Edward (Ted) Termuende on September 6, 1947. The honeymoon was a drive across Canada where they settled in Vancouver. While her husband was a pioneer in the post war economy, Mary was a pioneer on the home front in those early years. Music and books were her salvation. She taught English to new Canadians, raised her children, and later spent several years teaching piano. She really enjoyed teaching.
In retirement she played bridge weekly, attended Vancouver Chamber Music concerts, belonged to a book club (serious book club) and loved to go fishing with her friend Katie in the B.C. Interior. She painted watercolours and was a member of the West Vancouver Sketch Club for many years. Throughout she was Mum, and she was Granny.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Joe and Jim and her husband. She is survived by her six children: Cathy, Jane, Sue (Mike), Marnie, John (Julie), and Mark (Anna) as well as 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She lived a good long life and will be missed by her family and many whose lives she touched.
