Maureen was born in the UK in 1932, the 6th of 8 children born to Winnifred and Walter Thomas Murphy. She married Francis Carl in 1954. In 1958 she, Carl and their two eldest children moved to Canada. She was a long-time resident of Vancouver but resided for her last few years in Delta. Maureen was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings and their spouses, Carl, and her daughter Ruth (Greg Pierzchalski). She is survived by her daughters Julie (Ron Lapinsky, dec.), Carmel (Mark Zapf), Rita (Nick Layton), Clare (Laurie Speirs), Carla (Arne Lund), and Christine, and her son, Kevin (Sandi Bostwick), their children and an ever-increasing number of great grandchildren. Maureen loved her friends, education, spirituality, books, beautiful things, and having a good time (especially if accompanied by a glass of wine). She loved her dogs, but most of all she loved her family. Her door was always open. Maureen died January 10, after living with dementia for a number of years. She was surrounded by family throughout her last illness. She was much loved. Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3040 Heather St. Vancouver, March 7, 2026 at 10:30.
