Survived by her immediate family husband Garry, son Kristoher (Yuki), daughter Kristina, grandson Tyler and granddaughter River. Also survived by brother Gary (Janet), sisters Debbie Hendry (Brian) and Susan O’Neill (Stephen deceased), sister-in-law, Nancy Ackerfeldt (Mike) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Hugh Rapanos in 1981 and mother, Alice Rapanos this past year.
Nancy was schooled and raised her family on the North Shore. Married in 1979 and always the mama bear when it came to her children and home. Nancy was a tireless gardener with patience to overcome years of home renovations which she finally put her foot down and said no more.
After a work-related accident ended her office career, she started volunteering with the North Shore Mental Health Association which evolved into running her own day care looking after both children in need and their siblings for almost 20 years.
Nancy always fondly remembered her childhood in North and West Vancouver, the children parties and trips with them to Disneyland and Hawaii which all had their own twists and turns.
Those of us who remain will have to find a way to deal with the unexpected loss but our memory and love of you will last forever.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Care and North Shore Coastal Health care workers and nurses for their wonderful care both in the hospital and home setting.
By request, no service, or flowers, cremation. In lieu, please donate in Nancy’s name to Lions Gate Hospital Palliative Care
