Pamela Mary Edwards, age 91 years, passed away at her North Vancouver home on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 surrounded by her 3 children.
Pam was the youngest of 7 children born to Alfred Day and Jessie May Smith in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England in September 1932.
She met her husband, Neville Edwards, while both were employed at the telephone exchange in Lowestoft, and were married in September 1951. Pam and Neville emigrated to Canada in April 1953 just prior to the Queen’s coronation.
Neville was employed with BC Tel until his early retirement in July 1984. Pam also worked as a telephone operator in the early years, but her most fulfilling role was being a Mum and Nanna.
Pamela enjoyed many years as a school volunteer; she was a cat lover, an avid reader, and enjoyed many years of travel throughout Europe and North America with Neville during their golden retirement years.
Pamela is the last of her generation, predeceased by her husband in 2009. She is survived by her 3 children: Jane (Brian), Michael, and Tracey (Dori), 4 grandchildren: Rachel (Eric), David (Quincy), Kevin, and Allison, and 2 great grandchildren: Leo and Max. Pamela is also survived by several nieces and nephews abroad.
A quiet family service to scatter her ashes will take place at Memorial Gardens in North Vancouver.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to B.C. Children’s Hospital or the BC SPCA on her behalf.
