It is with profound shock and grief that we share our beloved Paul has passed away. He is survived by his wife Dina (nee Melillo) and the lights of his life: children Holly (Robin), Natalie (Cameron), and Luke. As well as his greatest joys, his grandchildren: Wyatt, Finley, and Asher - and another on the way. His siblings Louise (Stefan), Georges (Susan) and Elizabeth. Predeceased by his mom Anna Mabel Sourisseau, father Georges Sourisseau and his brother Marc Sourisseau.
Paul was born in Vancouver and after a short stint for the family in Winnipeg, returned to Vancouver where he grew up. Playing endless sports, working at community centres with kids, and being known as Lord Byng’s first “King Byng,” Paul was the ultimate social guy, always up for adventure.
Paul went on to work at Canadian (Air Canada) where he worked his way up from baggage handler to supervisor. He then went back to school at Langara to pursue HR. While in Vancouver he met the love of his life and after a rather intense volleyball match, they were inseparable. They would marry and pick up their whole lives to move to Kelowna to raise a family. Paul then worked at Interior Forest Labour Relations and the City of Kelowna before returning to Vancouver to be closer to family and to work for Metro Vancouver.
Paul loved biking, swimming, and being outdoors. He enjoyed dabbling around on the guitar and spent countless hours perfecting the same three songs he wrote. He also was an incredible woodworker, making beautiful toys for his grandchildren. Paul loved chatting and befriending neighbours, lifeguards, and anyone along his way. Not one for fancy things, he was grateful for what he had and enjoyed the simple things in life: a home-cooked meal, a cup of coffee, and being with family. His greatest pride and life’s legacy was his family, and the thing he enjoyed most of all was being together. An eternal optimist, all he would want people to do is think of him fondly, tell a loved one how much they mean to you, and be kind to one another. Also, add a scoop of ice cream to your dessert. In his own words:
“And when it’s time to say goodbye-tears they may appear -
But - have no fears I’ll be near-singing this old song
Remembering every moment
Remembering every day
Remembering all the fun we had
And every sunny day”
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to BC Children’s Hospital.
