It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Pauline Grace McIver who left us peacefully on April 27th at the age of 98 just a few days before celebrating her 99th Birthday.
Pauline lived a full and vibrant life, defined by her love of family, a curious spirit, and an enduring sense of adventure. Together with her first husband, Chuck Jorgensen, they worked up in the beautiful BC coast and later in Armstrong, where they had their first children, Gail and Terry. They eventually settled in North Vancouver where they lived for many years and had their 3rd and 4th children, Karen and Kathy.
A devoted mother, Pauline balanced the joys and demands of family life with a strong work ethic, taking part time work at Woodwards and Safeway, while keeping a spotless home. She cherished time spent outdoors-camping, tending her gardens, and relaxing beside her pool, she even found time to go on a bike tour in Cuba, travelled as far away as Japan and cruising the Fjords of Norway.
Music was the heartbeat of Pauline's world. She found joy and solace in her piano where her love of melody often extended to her gardens where she cultivated both color and calm. Mom could often been found on a Tuesday playing Bridge with her friends, and enjoying a happy hour at four bells!
After the sudden death of Chuck, Pauline was blessed to find love again with Don McIver. Together they shared many happy years travelling and tending their home. Pauline's warmth, resilience, and generous spirit will be profoundly missed by her four children, their spouses, her nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate care she received from the staff at Suncrest Complex Care in Surrey.
A Celebration of Pauline's Life will be held at Boal Chapel in North Vancouver on May 20 at 10:30 am as we gather to honour and remember a life so gracefully, bravely and lovingly lived. Her life will forever bloom in the hearts of those whom knew and loved her.
