Ramon "Ray" Cadlick, passed away peacefully surrounded by love. Dad was a man whose kindness, charm, and warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He lived a full and meaningful life, rooted in simple joys and deep connections. A skilled butcher by trade, he was also a dedicated Boy Scout leader for many years, passing on his love of the outdoors to younger generations. Whether, swimming in the lake, or going for long walks, Ray found peace and happiness in nature and his love of music. Wherever he made his home you were sure to see a Canadian flag flying.
He had a sweet tooth like no other-never turning down a Dairy Queen banana split, Werther's candy, maple walnut fudge, bridge mix, or any treat that came his way. He also cherished quieter moments: sitting outside with a cup of tea (always with evaporated milk), reading a good book, or enjoying a game of cribbage, poker with his buddies, or playing a tune at the piano.
Ray delighted in experiences, from cheering at Canadians baseball or Whitecaps soccer games to attending local plays. He was also the master of a perfectly barbecued steak. Above all, he had a gift for making people feel special. With a twinkle in his eye and easy charm, he left an impression on everyone, especially at his care home, where he was affectionately known as "Uncle Ray" or "Papa Ray" by the nurses who adored him at Cedarview Lodge. He is predeceased by his brother Norm, and other cherished family and friends as well as his beloved horse, Red and his dog Natasha. Ray leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that will never be forgotten.
He was an amazing Dad, Papa, and Great Grampa, his family will forever hold him in their hearts. While we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing he is reunited with loved ones and hope he is dancing in the sky.
