December 4, 1995 – May 4, 2016
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Riley Jane in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by grandparents Art and Inge Elholm, she is survived by her parents Carlo and Deborah, brother Mitchell, great grandfather Walter Schmidt, grandparents Harold and Marg Schmidt, aunt Dana, uncle Norman (Darlene) and cousin Kristen (Kip). Riley was born and raised in North Vancouver and graduated with honours as the top science student of Argyle Secondary in 2013. She accepted a four year tuition scholarship at the University of Victoria to study civil engineering with a business minor and was enrolled in third year. Riley’s greatest passion was dance and she spent countless hours at the studio practicing ballet, lyrical, modern, tap, jazz and hip hop. Two of her lifetime highlights were the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy in Nutcracker and Evil Queen in Snow White. She was a proud member of the UVic Dance Company in first year and continued to dance whenever possible. A celebration of Riley’s life will be held at the Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver at 2pm on June 11. Riley would be pleased and honoured to know that a scholarship in her memory has been established at UVic. In lieu of flowers, friends are welcome to make a donation to the Riley Jane Elholm Memorial Scholarship in Civil Engineering at: extrweb.uvic.ca/donate-online/in-memory-of-riley-jane-elholm
