Bea was a charter member of Five Points Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 34 years. She attended faithfully until her health did not allow. She continued to worship her Lord every Sunday by television. Living her life for Jesus and showing others her faith is what mattered most to her. She was always willing to share what God had done for her and how blessed she was. "Mama Bea" as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren and many others she loved as her own, was an example of God's command to serve others. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed taking meals to those who were sick or in need. Sunday lunch after church at Mama Bea's was a special day for her family and those memories we will always cherish.
She served the citizens of Tuscaloosa County in the License Commissioners Office for 25 years. She was the assistant License Commissioner until her retirement in 1988. After Retirement, she and Huey enjoyed being members of the Energizers Organization at Alabama Power Company and going on her family beach trips. Pallbearers will be Mike Burroughs, Scott Burnette, Michael Burroughs, Jason Miles, Jeff Fulmer, and Butch Harkness.
Honorary Pallbearers are Helen Burnette, Earl and Kaye Mitchell, Ray and Mary Jennings, Mike and Sharon Sharper, Mary Jo Looser, Sue Sullivan, Jane Nicholson, Rebecca Leatherwood, Steve and Patsy Kennedy, Mabel Wilson, Allene and Charlie Sparks, Hubert and Jewel Lee, Tony Crossland, Karen Ramsey, members of Esther Sunday School Class, members of Five Points Baptist Church and her doctor, Dr. John Summerford.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Brenda Hall, who took wonderful care of our mother and Mama Bea for 5 ½ years. You have been a part of our family and given us comfort knowing she was taken care of. Thank you for loving her; she loved you as her own.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Operation Smile, Samaritan's Purse, Gideon's or the
charity of choice.
