Bobby Taunton

Bob is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Wanda; his sister Becky (Bob) Mann; sons Bobby (Kelly) Taunton Jr., Chris (Angela) Pinion, Shane (Laura) Pinion; daughter Tamra (Nimrod) Lipscomb; grandchildren Stephen (Meredith) Taunton, Trey Taunton, Garrin (Haley) Pinion, Gage Pinion, Taylor Lipscomb; 5 great grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob was born to Willie Marvin Taunton and Willie Gretchen Sanders Taunton. He fondly recalled stories of his childhood growing up in the Pepperell Cotton Industry Community. He attended the Pepperell School that was located on the mill property for the “Lintheads”, children of the cotton mill workers. After high school graduation, in 1957, Bob joined the Air Force until discharge in 1965. He returned to Alabama and became a Professor at Alexander City State Junior College from 1972 - 1989. After retiring from teaching, Bob met and married Wanda, his wife of 29 years, in 1996. He settled in Northport, Alabama and joined Advantage Realty in 1997. He sold houses throughout Northport and Tuscaloosa for 15 years. He enjoyed much of his second retirement on the screened-in porch at his home bird watching and spending time with family and friends. Bob was an Auburn fan through and through. He was also an active member of Five Points Baptist Church and had a strong faith that he shared often with others. He will be remembered for his storytelling, love of people, and kind spirit.

Services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport, Alabama on May 9th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Five Points Baptist Church.
