

NORTHPORT | Doris C. Hildreth, age 88, of Northport, died September 15, 2015, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, in Union Chapel Church Cemetery with Bro. John Nixon officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be today, September 18, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Hildreth and brother, David Chrisley.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam Tench (Mike) of Pulaski, Va.; sons, John Riley Hildreth of Northport, Ala. and Brian Lee Hildreth of Centreville, Ala.; sister, Annie Lou Peery of Ceres, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Doris was born and raised in Pulaski, Va. and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1944. She attended Radford College for one year then attended the University of Virginia where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She then attended Cincinnati General Hospital where she received her certification to be a nurse anesthetist.
Doris was an active member of Clarendon Baptist Church in Arlington, Va. where she taught Sunday school for many years.
She worked at National Orthopedic Hospital in Arlington, Va. as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist until she retired.
After retirement, Doris moved to Northport with her husband, Jack, and became an active member of Northport Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Northport Baptist Church Building Fund, 104 Main Avenue, Northport, AL 35476.
