Dorothy O'Mary Hewitt, age 82, of Moundville, died Jan. 13, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Reba Wiley and Bro. Edwin King officiating. Burial will follow in Haygood United Methodist Church Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Hewitt.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond Hewitt (Debbie) of Buhl and Joe Hewitt (Cissy) of Moundville; her sister, Opal Hollingsworth of Fayette; two brothers, Clayton O'Mary of Winfield and Ray O'Mary of Northport; five grandchildren, Kim Hewitt, Rick Hewitt, Christie Garner (Nick), Andy Hewitt, and Johnny Hewitt; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Rick Hewitt, Andy Hewitt, Johnny Hewitt, Nick Garner, Brandon Ledbetter, Jonathon Gore, and Larry McDaniel, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren, Haley Gore, Lindsey Hewitt, Randy Hewitt, Stihl Hewitt, Kahne Hewitt, and Kailyn Garner, and DCH Regional Medical Center 5th Floor Stroke Unit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
