Dorothy Mae Rogers

SAMANTHA – Dorothy Mae Rogers, age 85, of Samantha, died December 20, 2017, at her residence. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017, at El Bethel Buncomb, Burial will follow in El Bethel Buncomb Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be today, December 22, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Rogers and her children, Patsy Lake and Ricky Rogers; sisters, Joyce and Elizabeth; and brothers, H. P., Jerry and James.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Beams and Becky Rogers; brother, Kenneth McMillian (Becky); sister, Lucy, Colburn; and sister-in-law, Mary Lee McMillian (James); grandmother, Twillia Brook, Jennifer Pinion, Misty Tibbit, Crystal Alexander and Health Beams; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Mae McMillian Rogers retired from Bryce Hospital. She spent endless hours in her gardens over the years. She grew food for her family and flowers for her hobby. Her yard was a testament to her knowledge and capabilities as a gardener. She had a way with words that never left you guessing what she wanted you to know. Her cooking was a comfort to many. Her feisty personality was what drew you in and her heart is what made you come back.

Pallbearers will be Marty Hagler, Heath Beams, Zac Mills, Wendell Beams, D. E. Alexander and David Hicks.
