Louise was born in Bloomfield, N.B., Canada, on January 18, 1936, growing up in Presque Isle, Maine. Louise was proud to represent her hometown in the Maine Potato Blossom Festival after being crowned Miss Presque Isle in 1953. She was active in school and graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1954. She met Robert in 1955 while he was stationed as a fighter pilot at Presque Isle Air Force Base. They were married in 1956. Together they lived throughout the United States and Europe until retiring to Lake Tuscaloosa in 1978. While in Tuscaloosa, Louise and Robert had several business ventures to include owning a small business college, a disaster restoration company, and multiple real estate investments. Louise was the original “Lake Lady” and began a remarkable real estate career in approximately 1980 which continued until the early 2000s. Louise and Robert retired for a second time to Gulf Shores in 2001. They relocated again to Tuscaloosa in 2005 so they could spend time with their grandchildren.
As an avid golfer and a tournament bridge player, Louise spent much of her retirement enjoying these hobbies. She also enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports, never missing a game. Louise loved her friends and family fiercely and was known for her generosity.
A special thank you to Forest Manor Nursing Home and Rehab and Alabama Hospice Care Tuscaloosa.
Louise will be laid to rest with her beloved husband in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
