Glenna M. South

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Acord; mother, Gertrude Acord; brother, Charles “Joe” Acord and sister, June Thomas.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dennis; son, Jephrey South (Silvia); daughter, Ann South-Dollar; grandsons, Randy Dollar and Ramey Dollar; sister, Debroah Hauter; sisters-in law, Diane Mroczynski and Donna Lake (Keith), neices, nephews and other relatives.

Glenna could sew anything. She made clothes, things for the house, wedding dresses, clothes alterations, church costumes, Halloween costumes, wool sleeping bag inserts and custom jacket liners. She also operated her own business of creating window treatments for her clients.

Many of the other things she did was serve as the daycare assistant, kept local children and babies in her home, was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.

She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, where she reached the rank of First Lieutenant. One of her major accomplishments was to receive the Chuck Yeager Aerospace Education award. In addition, she was a member of Northport Baptist Church as well as the JOY Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Northport Camp of the Auxiliary of the Gideons International.

Funeral services for Glenna will be held Saturday, January 3, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Northport Baptist Church with Scott McCullar and Scott Green presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home directing.

Pallbearers are Randy Dollar, Ramey Dollar, Eddie Lary, Bill McDonald, Ralph Cabiness and Phillip Gilland.
