

TUSCALOOSA | Elizabeth Inez “Me Maw” Parker passed away on November 10, 2013. She was 89.
She leaves behind her children, two sons, Mike Parker of Ala. and Carl Dunn of Fla.; four daughters, Barbara Ray of Ga., Judy Tinker (Jim) of Ga., Debbie Quattlebaum (Cecil) of S.C. and Shelia Templeton of Ala. Mrs. Parker had fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Inez was born February 24, 1924 in Pickens County to the late Grover and Lula Ballard. She was the last surviving child and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Hurtiss and Cleveland Ballard; three sisters, Odell Harless, Garie Gregg and Ollie Collie; two grandsons, Ricky Jackson and Wayne Howell; and her little buddy Steven Parker.
Inez loved her God, Bible and her family. She was a member of Carroll’s Creek Church for many years. She was a homemaker, and worked for sewing plants for many years before retirement. Quilting was her favorite hobby and she made quilts for her family, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Liberty Church in Gordo, Ala. with Pastor Ed Booth officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. The family will receive friends on tonight, November 12, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Parker, Frank and Junior Marcum, Harold McAbee II, Kenny Harless and Terry Harless.
Honorary mention for their kindness and care are Dr. Steven Brown and his staff, Northport Medical Center and their staff, and friends and neighbors of the Buhl and Coker communities.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis TN 38101-9929 or a charity of one’s choice.
