

Rev. James G. (Jim) Olive made his heavenly transition from his earthly home on July 27, 2010, surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sunset Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Fuller, Sis. Linda Watkins, and Bro. Bob Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years and the love of his life, JoAnn Olive of Tuscaloosa; his daughter, Rita Morrell (Jerry) of Northport; his sons, Ronnie Olive and Ken Olive (Phyllis), both of Tuscaloosa; his brothers, Mack Olive (Martha) of Northport and Paul Olive of Texas; his sisters, Louise Brueggeman of Northport, Katie Kelley of Texas, Katherine Skelton (Ormond) of Northport, Barbara Hudson of Northport, and Nan Davis (Larry) of Tuscaloosa; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Moore of Northport; five grandchildren, Amanda Graham (Ken) of Huntsville, Janet Wilkinson (Rick) of Northport, Robin McGaughy of Northport, Russell Olive of Northport, and Caroline Mockler (A.J.) of Tuscaloosa; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew, and David Graham, and Olivia Mockler; and numerous nieces and nephews. His extended family is too numerous to list — he was Dad and PawPaw to countless people who loved him dearly.
He served the Lord for more than 50 years in many capacities, including Pastor, Evangelist, Counselor, Teacher, and Mentor to many. He was currently an Elder at New Beginning Family Worship.
He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1980 and at that time he entered the ministry full time.
Pallbearers will be Russell Olive, Ken Graham, Rick Wilkinson, A.J. Mockler, Jerry Morrell, and Greg Freeman.
Honorary pallbearers are Elders and Deacons of New Beginning Church, lifelong friends, Norman and Nell Naugher, employees of Alacare Home Health Care and Hospice, and NorthStar Paramedics.
