
James Arthur Tubbs, age 82, of Elrod, went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Michael Miller officiating and Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur L. and Bertha Berry Tubbs; his wife, Hattye Holland Tubbs; and his step-grandson, Heath Holland Tubbs.
Survivors include his stepdaughters, Jacqueline Forbes (Scott), Mary Ann Howard, Laurie Nevin (Grover), and Julie Hudson (John); his step-grandchildren, Lindsey Hoyle (Trey), Kelly Forbes, Shanna Fondren, Fred Nevin, Kriston Nevin, Loren Matthews, Jessica Matthews, Heath Hudson, Chris Forbes, Stephen Forbes, Hunter Hudson, and Jack Forbes; and 17 step-great-grandchildren.
Jimmy, as he was fondly known by his family and friends, was a World War II veteran who proudly served his country in Germany. Jimmy loved animals, which is evident in the loving kitties and dogs he leaves behind. He loved his community and was generous to everyone he met.
Pallbearers will be Grover Nevini, George Howard, Heath Hudson, Hunter Hudson, Fred Nevin, Tyler Fondren, and Trey Hoyle.
Honorary pallbearers are the Holland family, the McCollum Sunday School Class at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, and the staff of DCH CICU and TSICU wards.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to LD&C Animal Rescue, 12150 Ala. Hwy. 69, Greensboro, AL 36744, or to one's favorite charity.
