Jimmie Lee Colburn

NORTHPORT - Jimmie Lee Colburn, age 90, of Northport, Ala., left her Earthly home bound for Heaven on March 1, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 12 noon Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church with Matt Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Bryan and Bessie Geneva Watkins; brother, Frank Watkins; sisters, Margaret Shirley, Elsie Norris and Frances Alexander; and grandson, John Preston Gildon.

Survivors include her brother, Reginald Watkins (LaVon); loving children, Regina Colburn, Mike Colburn, Donna Herron, Pam Moore (Jim) and Lisa Cobb; grandchildren, Lee Ann Galloway (Billy), Michael Wayne Colburn (Kenny), Amanda Lafon, Myndall Delcamp (Dennis), Karen Colburn, Bill Herron (Katie), Jessica Stewart (Michael), Elizabeth Doughty, James Hays (Stephanie) and John Hays (Raven); and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mama was born on April 21, 1927 in Northport, Alabama. She was a native of Northport and a member of Jennings Chapel United Methodist Church. Mama loved to draw and paint, write poetry and tell stories in great detail about her childhood. She was also a wonderful cook.

Pallbearers will be Jim Moore, Billy Galloway, William Galloway, James Hays, John Hays, Billy Herron, Landon Wamble and Dennis Delcamp.

Honorary pallbearers will be Forest Manor Nursing Home Staff and Station 2, Hospice of West Alabama, Third Floor MICU Unit at DCH, Monica McCracken, Dr. John Warren, Dr. Anne Lewis, Jennings Chapel UMC and her special caregiver, Ebonay.
