

TUSCALOOSA - Reverend Joseph Wayne Hitt went to be with our Lord at 8:38 p.m., April 12th, 2017. He was surrounded by his family and went peacefully in his sleep. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Roy Mayberry Hitt; his mother, Thelma Louise Kimbrell Hitt; his brothers, Roy Mayberry Hitt, Jr. and Michael Jeffery Hitt; his sisters, Imogene Garrett and Lorraine Campbell; his father-in-law, Joseph "Buddy" Keith; and mother-in-law, Dora B. Keith. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Gertrude Keith Hitt; his daughter, Cheryl Kimberly Hitt Allen; son-in-law, Carl "Gene" Allen; his brothers, Roy Lynn Hitt (Kim), Larry Hitt (Isa) and Charles Ricky Hitt (Brenda); his sisters, Barbara Hitt Wanke, Duese Hitt Bigbee and Cindy Hitt Carter (Jerry); and nieces, nephews and cousins.He was retired from Tuscaloosa Toyota and his last church that he pastored was Piney Woods. He served his country proudly during the Vietnam War and was a true Patriot. He lived a long and happy life. He was a remarkable man who loved the Lord and his family. He worked hard all of his life to take care of his family and to be a role model to all of those that knew and loved him. He was funny, smart and could do anything he set his mind on. He will be missed for the rest of our lives because there was no one like "Daddy". Services will be Monday, April 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home with Lynn Hitt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
