Linda Sue Noblitt Lape passed away at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa on January 26th, 2024 at the age of 81. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Ruby Noblitt and sister Margret Ann, all of Rock Spring, Georgia.
She is survived by her loving husband Gordon “Paul” Lape, married for 56 years in February; son Greg (Kristy Reynolds) Lape; step-daughter Debbie D’Amore; former daughter-in-law Joanna Bryant Lape; grandchildren Griffin Lape, Gracen Lape, Candice (Kristen) Levesque-D’Amore, Ashley D’Amore, Jennifer D’Amore; great-grandchildren Mason, Preston, Kelly, Kathyren, and Peyton; sister Joyce Racz, brother Johnny (Glenda) Noblitt, and sister Nancy (Ron) Smith.
Linda grew up in Rock Spring, GA and was always proud to tell people she was a “Georgia Peach”. There may not be a more fitting description of her. She grew up knowing the meaning of hard work. This never left her, even in her final days. After graduating from LaFayette High School, she always fondly remembered working in the local hospital. We have no doubt this was because of her loving and service-minded heart. She went on to have an over 30-year career in banking. It is hard to imagine a more thorough and organized banker.
In retirement, Linda and Paul enjoyed the “RV life” as they traveled the country and eventually settled into being “park hosts” at several Corp of Engineer lakes in North Georgia. It is there that they made many lifelong friends. Linda loved singing in church choirs and 'How Great Thou Art' was her favorite song of all. Eventually, they settled in Alabama to be closer to their son.
She will be buried at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL, along with her Husband Gordon "Paul" Lape. A celebration of life for both is scheduled for March 1, 2024 at 10:45 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Hospice of West Alabama.
