Margaret Morgan Smith

She worked at Gulf States Paper for almost 38 years before retiring. She then continued her career at the University of Alabama for 16 years until her final retirement in 2021. It was her lifelong dream to go back to school to obtain her college degree, and in 2017, she accomplished that dream by receiving her Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Shelton State Community College.

Margaret loved Jesus, Alabama football, Atlanta Braves baseball, country music, and spending with her grandkids, daughter, and son-in-love. To know her was to love her. She was the most loving, selfless, and supportive person. She radiated joy, kindness, and compassion. The world was a better place having her in it and a permanent hole will be here without her. We continue on knowing the love she gave and knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven with her mother, father, and husband. Until we meet again.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginger Pritchett (Rodney); grandchildren, Hannah Morgan Pritchett and Christian Keith Pritchett, and a host of relatives and friends.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Smith; mother, Ethel Burns; and father, Samuel Morgan.

A visitation for Margaret will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home, 3802 Watermelon Road, Northport, Alabama 35473 followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers are Stephen Wilson, Steve Whitaker, Darren Thomas, Scott Wilkins, JD Wilkins, and David Randall Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are Luka Saint Goodwin, Bob Pugh, Wayne Reach, Brian Sexton, Sherrill Smalley, Michael Smelley, Connie and Roger Cox, Dee and Ronnie Dockery, Debbie Eads, Judy Watson, Faye Earnest, former coworkers and friends from Gulf States Paper Corporation, and former coworkers and friends from the University of Alabama.
