ELROD | Marion G. Pearson, age 90, of Elrod, died April 18, 2015, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at Elrod Baptist Church with Randy Gray and Gene Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Mary Pearson; wife, Nina Sullivan Pearson; son, Leon Pearson; grandson, Anthony Shane Pearson; three brothers and five sisters.Survivors include his wife, Estelle Burroughs Pearson; daughter, Shelia Gay (David); sons, Ronnie Pearson (Carolyn) and Rickey Pearson (Jenny); brother, Bobby Pearson; several nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Mr. Pearson served as the pastor of several churches in the Tuscaloosa and Pickens Co. area for over 59 years. He loved serving the Lord and helping everyone he came in contact with. He was an outdoorsman, loved hunting and fishing.Pallbearers will be Shane Hallman, Jason Pearson, Dusty Pearson, Cody Pearson, Gavin Palmer and Jacob Stevenson.Honorary pallbearers are Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dr. Joseph G. Stewart, Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice Care, friends and neighbors of Buhl and Elrod communities.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice or Ebenezer Baptist Church of Carrollton.
