Mary, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering devotion to God.
Above all else, Mary was the best wife as she was steadfast, loving, and loyal. Her life was marked by the way she loved people so well. From her church family to the students she greeted each day on her bus, from lifelong friends to her precious family, Mary made everyone feel seen, cared for, and valued. Loving others was not something she did occasionally it was just who she was.
Mary’s faith in God was unbreakable and evident in every season of her life. Even in our deepest sorrow, her trust in the Lord gives us the courage to continue seeking His will, believing His promises, and holding fast to hope despite our broken hearts. We cling to the truth that God will wipe away every tear, and that one day we will be reunited with her again.
Mary’s life was a gift, her love was a blessing, and her faith will remain a legacy for all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Nell McBride and Adron E. McBride.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Payne; her son, Billy Payne (Nedra); and her daughter, Angel Green (Scotty). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Caroline Green, Madeline Higginbotham (Peyton), Kaitlin Mallette, and Barkley Mallette (Emily), along with five beloved great-grandchildren who were a constant source of joy in her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 am at New Beginning Family Worship Center with Rev. Bill Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her devoted sitters, Jackie Herron and Pat Pearson, whose kindness, patience, and faithful presence brought comfort and peace during her final days. Special thanks are also given to her hospice nurses, Haley and Hunter, for their compassionate care, tender support, and unwavering dedication. Their love and service were a true reflection of God’s grace during this sacred time.
