Melvin Buddy Lewis Farris

M.L. (Buddy) Farris, age 80, of Northport, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 PM at Sunset Funeral Home in Northport. The funeral will be 1 PM Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Interment will be in Cook-Walden/Capital Parks in Pflugerville, Texas.

M.L. was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired IBM Engineer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edith Farris; brother, Willis; and his first wife, Grace, mother of his children.

He is survived by his wife, Bessie Dodd Lynn Farris; two sons, Kevin (Kim) Farris and Dennis Farris both of Leander, TX; three daughters, Mary (Tracy) Griffin of Sharpsburg, GA, Deborah Farris of Summerville, GA, and Eileen (Zack) Crues of Friendswood, TX; two step-daughters, Rhonda (Butch) Hudson of Hubbertville, AL, and Melissa Greene of Fayette, AL; brother, Homer (Novie) Farris of Birmingham; three sisters, Geneva McGough and Ilene Heron, both of Nauvoo, AL, and Georgia McDuffy of Gardendale, AL; sister-in-law, Teresa DiGianni of Long Island, NY, and brother-in-law, Ted (Jane) Peluso of Boston, MA; eleven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Griffin, Zack Crues, Adam Farris, Joshua Farris, Brooks Greene and Blake Greene.

Honorary pallbearers are lifelong friend, Charles McCaleb and Hubbertville High School Class of 1949.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of West Alabama for their loving care during M.L.'s last days.
