
Born February 17, 1942, in Mobile, Alabama to John Chesley and Merrendia Morris, Rosemarie received her undergraduate degree from Judson College, and her Masters in Sociology from the University of Alabama. Rosemarie worked for the State of Alabama as a social worker assisting children, teaching young mothers, and mentoring single parents for over 25 years.
Committed to fostering community and serving others throughout her life, Rosemarie was one of the founding members of Tuscaloosa One Place, a family resource center, and she served on numerous boards including The Tuscaloosa Preservation Society and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra. Rosemarie was married for 50 years to David Wayne Childress.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Childress Knockemus of Birmingham, Alabama; sisters, Shannon Lascaro (Nick) and Mary Virginia Morris of Amite, LA; brother, James Morris (Barbara) of St. George Island, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, David Wayne Childress, and brother, Jonathan Edwards Morris.
