Zellion David Marcum

NORTHPORT Zellion David (Z.D.) Marcum, age 89, of Northport, died June 15, 2011, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Northport Church of God with Bishop Greg Strickland and Rev. John S. Gibson, III officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Searcy Marcum; his mother, Lillie Evans Marcum; his son, Carl Wayne Marcum; his granddaughter, Tiffany Marcum Stone; his brothers, Harvey Marcum, Joe Wiley Marcum, and Benjamin Marcum; and his sisters, Mary Etta Marcum Harkey, Ruth Marcum Tingle, Dorothy Marcum Watson, and Clara Marcum Bell.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Watson Marcum; his daughters, Jo Marcum Rose (Wayne) and Denise Marcum Moore (Gene); his son, David Orbit Marcum; his sister, Elizabeth Marcum Foley (Raiford); his brothers, James S. Marcum (Edna) and Herbert Lee Marcum (Mattie); his grandchildren, April Phillips, Joseph W. Rose, Whitney Rose DuBose, and David Cody Moore; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Rose, Cody Moore, Eric DuBose, Stanley Phillips, Rob Williams, and Rayburn Harkey.

Honorary pallbearers are Jamie Robertson, Leigh Harbin, Lakeisha Steele, Amedisys Hospice staff, employees of the State of Alabama Revenue Department, Northport Church of God family, friends and neighbors of Piney Woods community, and special thanks to caregivers Charlotte T. Skelton and Ramona Wright.
