Arnold Joseph Bargenquast Jr., age 80, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025. He was born in Norwich where he resided most of his life. He was the son of Arnold Bargenquast Sr. and Louise Bargenquast -Quarto-Valenti.
He never got to meet his dad who was killed on the USS Seawolf sub during WW2 before he was born.
He worked at Easter Seals for many, many years.
Arnold loved all kinds of music and had quite the collection. I can't even remember a time when he was not listening to music. He loved playing his guitar and was in a couple of local bands in the mid 1960's and played at several downtown block parties.
He had such an infectious laugh that it made anyone around him laugh even though they did not know what he was laughing about.
He joined the Marines during the Vietnam war.
Arnold was a gentle soul who was a very religious catholic and never missed a church mass at St. Peter and Paul until he became sick.
He had a tough life but through it all he was loved very much by everyone. There is no doubt in my mind that the angels came down and brought him to our Lord. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us.Arnold will forever be sadly missed by his sisters Nancy Dombrowski and Rozann Valenti Montminy, her husband Jean along with his other family members.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made in his honor at Easter Seals Veterans Rally Point 24 Stott Ave. Norwich Ct.
