Norwich – Caroline Anne Fontaine, age 77, of Norwich, passed away while in the care of the Gladeview Healthcare Facility on June 28, 2023. She was born in Norwich on March 1, 1946 to the late Felix and Lucille (Lawruszewicz) Lebejko.
She is survived by her son David Fontaine, his wife Danielle and grandson Luke Fontaine of Griswold, and two sisters Constance (Lebejko) Gauthier and Phyllis Lebejko of Norwich.
Carol was a graduate of NFA and worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, until her son David’s birth in 1974. She took on several other jobs including working at the Norwich Bulletin in the ‘80s and then D&D Dry Cleaners of Norwich, where she retired about 15 years ago. In addition to working a standard 9-5, Carol did what moms do best, cared for other loved ones in their last years. That included her husband Paul’s two aunts and her own mother, Lucille.
She married the late Paul A. Fontaine on October 3, 1970. Their only child, David, was born in January 1974. They lived in Norwich all their lives.
Carol was soft spoken and known for her sweet and caring nature. Paul and Carol loved and cherished their dogs, with her favorite breed being collies. As a testament to this, there was always one to three dogs around. Carol loved to grow geraniums in her gardens. Catholic faith was always strong with Carol, as she could be seen daily at St. Patrick’s Cathedral where both Paul and Carol would be found praying a rosary following mass.
Her suffering and pains from dementia were forever pushed away as Our Lord called Carol home. While the living angels at Gladeview Healthcare Facility took care of Carol the last three years of her life, Heavenly Angels from above came to bring her home, as her son was at her side.
