

He was born on July 21, 1949 in Hugo, OK to the late Atwell and Iola (Griffin) Record. After completing high school he joined the US Navy for a 20 year career until his retirement. Thereafter he worked for Little Rhodey Mechanical & Electrical, the US Post Office, Precision Food Service and most recently as a Kitchen Appliance Tech for Mohegan Sun until his retirement in Dec. 2015. He also drove part time for Curtin Livery Service.
David was a true handyman and loved doing odd jobs and would do anything to help anyone at any time. He was a people person and always tried to brighten others’ day. He was a self-taught guitarist, enjoyed gardening, traveling, working on classic cars and trucks, space or historical documentaries and FOX news. His greatest joy though, was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was united in marriage on April 2, 2004 to Kimberly (Giorgio) who survives him. He was predeceased by his previous wife, Bonnie Jean Record in 2002. Besides his wife Kim, he is also survived by his sons; David Fleming, Christopher Nickse, daughters; Angela Hewitt and husband Charles, Amanda Record and partner Jeremiah Doebler, Ashlee Smith and husband Nicholas, Melissa Nickse and husband Bruce DeMonte, Amanda Quinn and husband Matthew, brothers; Russell and James Record, sisters; Marie Smith, Margaret Burkhart, Nancy Williams, and 8 grandchildren; Elisha, Kelli, Vanessa, Bruce, Joshua, Preston, Olive and Matthew, former wife, Rachael Vinson, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his previous wife Bonnie, he is also predeceased by brothers; Henry and Alex Record and a sister; Betty Brown.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 28th, at 11am at Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT with Military Honors. Calling Hours will begin that morning at 9am until the time of the service. Burial is private at the convenience of the family.
