He worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker.
He is survived by a son Deke Thompson and his wife Dawn Baker of Avon, a daughter Sharie Gray and her husband Tymothy of Ledyard, a grandchild Jamie Salvatore of Ledyard and a great grandchild Cameron Congdon. He also leaves behind a brother Gary Thompson, and sisters Cheryl, Dorothy and Marlys all of Wisconsin. He is predeceased by his parents and a brother Kevin.
