Everyone at Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford  was so sorry to hear about Deb’s passing.   She was a long term employee who was truly the heartbeat of our organization!   

May her memory be for a blessing.

My husband Howard and I met Deborah two decades ago through her former life partner, Phil Small. Since we live in D.C., we would meet Deb and Phil once or twice a year for dinner and/or drinks. We loved those get-togethers! Deb was warm and engaging, always thoughtful of others, and had a wonderful sense of humor. We were very saddened to learn of her passing last week. Our hearts and condolences go out to Deborah’s family and Phil, and to all those who knew Deb and loved her, as we did.

I was 16 when  our English teacher Morine asked who would like to correspond (snail-mail, no internet, e-mail, etc) with a girl from USA. I raised my finger to start a many years long correspondence. Deborah was 14 years old. That was back in 1969,  some 55 years ago.
I always was impressed by Deoborah’s  high expression abilities, orally and in writing.
It was a pleasure..
Some years later when I served in the army we met for the first time and we spent few days together traveling Israel.
I think it was her first and last visit to israel though she often talked about her desire to visit again.
I visited her  few times during the years, the first visit while she was with Ira and a 6 months old baby girl I held in my arms…

During these multiple visits I sort of followed her life path and events.
I liked the visits to Abe and Irene place.

I watched Deborah along the years and  found a brave woman, one with tenacity and optimism, a fighter for her family and children in not always ideal situations , cheerful and funny and a good friend.
A good daughter to her parents and beautiful both in and out.
Always honest and sensitive.

I wish I could hug her one last time..
She will always be in my heart and memory.

I hope she can finally rest now, a well deserved rest.

So sorry to learn about Deborah's passing. Cathy & I enjoyed her company on a number of occasions and will miss her. RIP.

Deborah and I shared some formative years together as teens and young adults.  We met in Israel on a one- year work/study program
between  high school and college.  We remained close as we established our own families and our professional lives as well as throughout our child-bearing and rearing years.  We were together to share in life’s joys and milestones as well as those of our children.  In recent times, we were less connected.  I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Deborah’s passing.  I send my deep sympathy to Sara, Ezra, Alana and Anna, David and Phil as well as all of Deborah’s loved ones — friends and family alike.  Baruch Dayan Emet.

I was always close to Deb.  She was one of my favorite cousins.  When I came to Norwich, Conn. to visit my Grandma - she lived next door with her parents and we would see each other and socialize.  We always agreed on everything.

When I got older and Deb got married and started having a family in Hartford, Conn.  I would visit her there.  When the kids were growing  up - she wanted a cat for them to have a loving relationship with.  I wanted to find a good home for my cat, with a spacious yard and loving kids to care for it - so I offered her the cat.    She got another offer at the same time and landed up with two cats. 

My mom brought my cat to her - drove down from NY to Hartford with the cat in a cage in the back seat of her car.   Immediately upon arrival to the home in Hartford - the cat ran under Deborah's bed and stayed there for a few days.  I get a telephone call from Deb - "Bernie come and take your bachelor cat out of here."  And I did - made the trip to Connecticut and picked up the cat, who was happy to see me and the cat lived to the ripe old age of twenty years. 

I loved Deborah - she was such a good person.  She got taken too soon.

Deborah  was a beautiful  light in a complex world  .I remember  meeting  her early on in my relationship  with Bernie Epstein  and just knew we were going  to get along good. l was so shocked  to hear of her passing and send my deepest  sympathy to her four children  , ( Sarah , Ezra  ,Alana and Anna ) her brothers  David and Philip  and all those who loved and cared  for her .She truly  will be missed  ,as Deborah  was full of love and compassion  for others  and it was my pleasure  knowing  her , love Alison Carlton

So sad to learn about Deborah's passing. My wife Cathy & I always enjoyed her company and considered her a good friend.
