

North Franklin-Dr. Dominic Robert “Bob” Pannone, O.D. passed away on December 10, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born on August 25, 1930 in Pawtucket, RI to the late Dominic and Mabel (McCullough) Pannone and married Carol (Cote) in 1961. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Pannone.
Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and the Massachusetts College of Optometry. He was an Optometrist in Norwich, CT for 54 years. He was the Founder and Director of the Haitian Health Eye clinic in Jeremy, Haiti, volunteering his time and expertise over many years. As a Certified Police Instructor, he played a major role, working closely with the CT State Police, administering DWI training programs and in the development of the DRE (Drug Recognition Expert) program. He was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox, UConn women’s and Providence College men’s basketball, enjoyed lunchtime pickup basketball games at the YMCA, trips to Bermuda and creating new memories with his family, including skydiving in Lake Tahoe for his 89th birthday.
Besides his loving wife, he will be greatly missed by his sister Helen Dault of Bradenton, FL, his daughter Linda Wilson and her husband Ron of Draper, UT, his daughter Sharon Pannone of Athens, TN, and his son Robert Pannone and his wife Tina Krajacic of Lake Tahoe, NV. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Gabrielle Velasquez, Alex Velasquez, his wife Lauren, Jordan Lopez, his wife Alex, and Eva, Chloe and Nicholas Pannone.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, December 16th at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 57 W. Town St. Norwich. Burial will be held at a later date at the RI Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
