Dorothy J Boone

Sister Dorothy J. Boone, of Norwich, CT passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT.

Dorothy was born on October 16, 1941 to the parents of Lewassa Beasley and Willie Jefferson McAlister in Egypt, Mississippi. Dorothy also had a special love for her Aunt Macie and Grandmother Carrie McAlister who raised her from about 2 years of age through life.

Dorothy attended Shivers Junior High School in Aberdeen, MS, and later in life attended Nursing school.

Dorothy’s love included: her loving children Anthony D. (Heidi) Boone, Eric Boone, and Victoria (who preceded her in death). Dorothy had a special love for all of her grandchildren-Anthony Soria (Alicia), Julien Boone, Kaelin Boone, and Kyle Boone. Great grand’s are Akai Soria and Aaliyah Soria. She also leaves a host of friends and adopted family to mourn.

Dorothy siblings includes sisters: Jewel Lee Smith (who preceded her in death) and other sisters (Cousins) Barbara Billups, Sandra Jarmon-Burgess, Janet Jarmon, Elva Amour, Cynthia Beverly, Linda Davis, Tammy Laverne Davis-Wilson, brothers (cousins) Stanley McAlister, Reginald Jarmon, Charlie Jarmon, Willie Jarmon, Ralph Jarmon, and Robert Jarmon. She also leaves two Nephews George McGee and Anthony F. McGee as well as a God son – Glenn Billups III.

At the age of 16 years old Dorothy left the state of Mississippi to go to Chicago, IL where she lived until the early 60’s. In the early 60’s she decided to make her new home in Willimantic, CT. She became a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and served until her death.

Dorothy ended her career working through the State of CT as an Administrative Assistant with the Commission on Human Rights & Opportunities.
