Frederick Norman Sansom Sr.

Frederick Norman Sansom Sr., age 79, of Norwich, Connecticut passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Frederick was born January 23, 1943. Fred was born in Groton Ct. the son of the late Harold and Irene (Tucker) Sansom. He was married to Karen (Parke) Sansom for 60 years. Fred loved reading about astrology, watch Red Sox baseball and enjoy a good football game. He liked good political discussion and making his great grandchildren laugh. Fred was a proud member of Laborers Local #547 since 1968. He was known as "Sam" around the union hall.

Besides his beloved wife Karen, he leaves behind his daughter Tina and husband Harold "Chip" Knight III, Tracy and her husband Donald Latham, his son Frederick N. Sansom Jr.and a sister Ella Schleibaum. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kyle Knight, Liane Rivera, and Aaron McCoy, his great grandchildren Aariana and Aaron; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sisters Anna, Katherine and Elizabeth, and daughter-in-law Susan (McCoy) Sansom. Donations may be made to the Yantic Fire Department in his name. Visitation will be Saturday February 12, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m at the Church and Allen Funeral Home 136 Sachem Street Norwich.
