Gumersindo Cordero

Plainfield-Gumersindo Cordero, age 93, of Plainfield, passed away on March 5, 2025 at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to the late Vidal and Eloisa (Martinez) Cordero. He married his loving wife Norma Luz (Lugo-Gonzalez) Cordero on February 15, 1959 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. She survives him.

Gumersindo worked as an attendant at Merck Pharmaceuticals.

Besides his loving wife Norma, he is survived by a daughter Maria Ermitania Molina and her husband Angel Luis of Plainfield, a daughter Ramona Cordero of Mystic, a daughter Ley Cordero-Hall and her husband Robert of Illinois, and a daughter Miriam Alcantara and her husband Alfred of Massachusetts. He also leaves behind grandchildren Angel Joel Molina, Christian Alexi Molina, Kristen Ferenandez, Daniel David Ortiz, Aileen Ortiz, Benjamin DeJesus, Christopher Alcantara, Crystal Eda Alcantara, and greatgrandchildren Joseph Christian Deptulski, Denny and David Ortiz, Isaiah, Israel, and Ciara Ortiz, Maya DeJesus, Viniah and Zacariah Ortiz.

Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich on Wednesday March 12th from 4-7 PM. A calling hour will be held on Thursday March 13th from 9 AM until the time of the funeral home service at 10AM. Burial will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
