

James Etta Boulware, 97, of Norwich departed this life peacefully at home on December 15, 2015. She was born February 16, 1918 in Kershaw County, South Carolina. Mrs. Boulware, Mrs. B or Jimmie as she was called by many, was a caring woman not only to her family, but others in the community. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Carrie Peay, her husband of 61 years, Hilliard Boulware Sr, her sisters Sallie Harris, Sadie Roach, brothers Henry, George, David, and John Peay. She worked most of her life shoe making and textile industries.
Mrs. Boulware was the rock of her family. She was an extra ordinary homemaker, cook, seamstress, and hairdresser. She enjoyed gardening using the riding mower in the upkeep of her yard.
She was a member of Evans Memorial AME Zion Church serving in various capacities, the Norwich Branch of the NAACP, the Dr. Martin Luther King Center and the Sportsmen’s A.C. Her great love and compassion will always be remembered.
She is survived by daughters, Cora Lee Boulware and Carrie E Rucker of Norwich; sons Roscoe Peay of Fort Washington, MD, Hilliard Boulware Jr of Piscataway, NJ, Hurley Boulware of Upper Marlboro, MD; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends
Both the calling hours, 10:00 – 11:00 AM, and funeral services, 11:00 AM, will be held on Saturday December 19, 2015 at Church & Allen Funeral Services of 136 Sachem Street, Norwich, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evans Memorial AME Zion Church, P.O. Box 266, Norwich and Norwich Public School Foundation.
