Mr. James R. Welch

He was born in Harrisburg, PA on Nov. 24, 1938 to the late James B. and Florence R. (Haggerty) Welch. After completing school he worked for the A&P Grocery Co. for a time before serving in the US Army fighting in Vietnam. After his Honorable Discharge, Jimmy went to work for Stop & Shop grocery stores holding a number of positions until his retirement.

Jimmy married his beloved wife Donna (Law) in Reno Nevada on Feb. 14, 1989. She survives him. He was known for his sense of humor and loved to vacation with her especially enjoying their cruises together.

Besides his wife, Jimmy is also survived by his daughter Kelli, sisters; Catherine, Veronica, Bernice and Rita, several nieces and nephews, and his faithful canine companion “Jesse”. He was predeceased by one sister; Jeanne.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 10am until the time of the Funeral Service at noon at Church & Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
