Hello friends and Family,
My mother was a LOVER of flowers! Flowers of any kind. They made her happy and filled her heart with joy. She loved sharing them with others in the form of beautiful arrangements in the art form of Ikebana. During the years we spent in Japan she was initially a student of Ikebana but then went on to teach and become a Sensei. A more recent flower power outlet has been her involvement with the North Stonington Garden Club, and she has developed many friendships over the years with the club. Her love of plants and flowers has permeated my life and as a result I am a plant and flower lover. I would like to plant a memorial for my mother made of spring bulbs. In leu of cut flowers and arrangements I would love it if people donated bulbs or purchased gift certificates from bulb retailers so that we can accumulate as many bulbs as possible to plant. The planting would be done in the fall when the bulbs ship and are available. In the spring (her birthday is in April) they will bloom year after year, and we can all visit the flowering bulbs and think of my mother with happiness in our hearts and fond memories.
You may purchase/order bulbs from anywhere you would like. I would like to suggest that we support local businesses. The two businesses I recommend are listed below with their websites. You may go online and select bulbs of your choosing, place the order and provide my mailing address for delivery in the fall or you may purchase a gift certificate if you prefer not to select the bulbs yourself. I would love to have an impressive number of bulbs to plant. No donation is too small! I will provide my email and mailing address below for you. I will reach out to all of you in the fall to let you know where we have selected for a site to plant the bulbs.
