John Michael DeVanno

John was born April 29, 1933 in Westchester, NY, the son of the late Michael and Frances DeVanno.

He married June Daigle November 25, 1973 in Norwich. She survives him.

He had worked at Norwich Public Utilities as a maintenance mechanic for the water department for 36 years.

John was an avid bowler who loved duckpin and candlepin bowling, as well as horseshoes. He was a member of the Thamesville and Silverstar AC.

In addition to his loving wife June, John is survived by his children Elizabeth Mashburn and husband Ken, Jay DeVanno and wife Amy, Tony DeVanno and wife Levon, all of NC, Mike DeVanno of Norwich, Lisa O’Hara and husband Chris of Norwich and Brenda Everett of Norwich, brother Nicholas DeVanno of Norwich, sister Anna Baton and husband George of Norwich, by 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Jack and Alfred DeVanno and by his sisters Nicolette Rodino, Julia MacDonald and Mary Markham.

A funeral service will be held at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave. in Norwich on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11 am. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral service. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Norwich.
