Kenneth Richard Lyons

Preston - Kenneth Richard Lyons, 80, passed away peacefully with his children by his side, Tuesday, February 4, 2025. After a two week struggle to overcome complications from a heart attack, he was called home.

Born in Norwich on October 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Ruth (Lyons) Alexander and the late Cliff Lyons.

Ken, or “Unc”, as most people knew him, enjoyed collecting die cast cars for fun. He was an original member of the Dream Machine Classics car club. He enjoyed participating in all the club activities and made many life long friends. His prized possession was his 1964 Chevy Impala Super Sport he had custom ordered from the factory when he was 16. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1965, was stationed in Limestone, ME, and was honorably discharged in 1968. Originally he was studying plumbing, but crossed over into heating and obtained his heating specialist license. He had a long career as an oil burner technician. He worked for Dahl Oil, Lehigh Oil, and finally retired from Freddie’s Oil 2009. He moved to NE for a few years in the ‘90’s to work for his brother-in-law, the late Jack O’Dell at O’Dell Electric. He enjoyed retirement to the fullest. His sense of humor would get you laughing, especially when he was telling a story.

Ken loved to take pictures as a hobby, at friends weddings and car shows.

He is survived by his beloved sister Barbara O’Dell of NE, his brother William Alexander (Nancy) of TX, his sister-in-law Pat Lyons of NY, his former wife Teresa DiTerlizzi of Torino Italy, his daughter Denise (Lyons) Blackburn and her husband Bob of Southwick MA, and his son Joseph Lyons and his wife Joyce of East Lyme CT. He is predeceased by his stepfather Elbert Alexander of NE, his brother Charlie Lyons of NY, his sister Esther (Cissy) Alexander also of NE. Ken leaves behind his grandchildren Alexander, Brandon, Gabrielle and Tanner as well as many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at the Labenski Funeral Home 107 Boswell Avenue Norwich on March 6th from 4-6pm.
