

Peg was born in Manhattan, NY on February 19, 1923 to the late Irving K. and Dorothy (Insull) Fearn, but considered Norwich, CT her home. Peg is an alumna of Norwich Free Academy (’40) and University of Connecticut. She was a veteran of the Women’s Army Corps during WW II and was employed at American Thermos Co. Later Peg worked in bookkeeping and sales for many years at the Towne Liquor Store. Peg’s greatest joy was her family and home. The Thanksgiving family gathering was her favorite holiday. She also spent countless hours cross-stitching, sewing, knitting, reading and bowling. After she retired, she and Charlie spent summers at their cabin on Schoodic Lake in Maine, where they were joined every summer by daughters and grandchildren. Peg was also involved in community activities which included the Republican Town Committee, Otis Library Board, Backus-Up Follies, amateur theater, Backus Hospital volunteer and her church.
Peg is survived by Charlie, her husband of 61 years and their three daughters. Meg Cook is a Latin teacher at Winthrop High School and lives with husband David in Winthrop, ME. They have two children Chris and Sarah, and two grandsons, Aidan and Ryan. Dinah Auger, a dental hygienist at United Community and Family Services resides with husband Edward in Norwich. They have two children Mathew and Elizabeth, and one granddaughter, Gwen. Jane Papelian is a registered nurse at Virginia Hospital Center and lives with husband Steve in Arlington, VA. They have three children, Chuck, Kate and Muffin, and a granddaughter, Amelia. Peg was predeceased by her brother; William R. Fearn (Capt. USCG ret.), and sisters; Dorothy Olsen (Maj. USANC) and Joanne LeCount.
Funeral Services will be Friday at 2pm at Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich, CT. Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 5pm – 7pm.
