Marguerite A. Smith

She was born in Bristol, CT on July 5, 1917 to the late Walter and Margaret (Sweeney) Brown. After graduating high school she married Dwight E. Smith who predeceased her. She worked for many years as the Assessor for the Town of Bozrah.

Rita is survived by her sons; Edward Smith and his wife Michelle of Katy, TX, Terry Smith and his wife Cathy of Bozrah, daughters; Gail Shea and her husband John of Bozrah, Judy Blanch and her husband John of Bozrah, one brother; Walter E. Brown of Charlestown, RI, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother Francis W. Brown.

The family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Grove for the great care and concern

that was given to Rita during her stay with them. Also, thanks to Hospice for their continued support and dedication.

There will be no services to honor Rita’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the CT Humane Society, 169 Old Colchester Rd., Quaker Hill, CT 06375 or Hospice of SE CT, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
