Nancy E. Butters

Nancy Eleanor Butters, 88 of Ledyard, died Wednesday July 16, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Alvin L. Butters Jr. and they were married on June 21, 1958.

Nancy was born in Jamestown NY, daughter of the late Elmer and Flora Green.

She was a secretary for Ledyard Parks and Rec, Town of Ledyard for approximately 20 years, until her retirement, and was a volunteer for the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad.

In her own words she stated that she lived a full life raising 4 children, volunteer work, a Navy wife, a career with the Town of Ledyard, and of course her community service as a volunteer for the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, and the Moose Club where she was made Senior Regent.

She loved playing bingo, bowling, and loved to play the piano.

Besides her husband she is survived by her children; Bruce Butters, Jan Butters, Gary Butters (Amy), and Joyce Butters Shipley (Thomas).

She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Norman Green, and a grandson Christopher Shipley.

Visitation will be Saturday July 26, 2025 from 2-4 at the Church and Allen Funeral Home 136 Sachem Street Norwich. A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 26 at 3:30 pm at the Church and Allen Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
