Paul Smart of Lebanon passed away on March 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving family to join his parents Aimable and Blanche Smart and his sister Barbara Vaillancourt after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Paul was a local builder/remodeler. He took great pride in his work and often was called upon to accomplish "the impossible". There are many houses he built along with his brothers Bob and Sylvio and his son Jamie that we will enjoy seeing for many years to come. He was a true craftsman. Along with his love for work and family he enjoyed boating, puttering around the yard and watching every western that was ever made. Anyone who knew Paul knows how much he loved to laugh and joke and this was evident by the stories that were told when he came home at night or when family gathered.
He leaves behind his wife Michile, son Jamie and wife Angela and the apple of his eyes grandchildren, Trevor and Kasey Smart. He will be missed by his numerous siblings along with their wives, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews his many friends from the trade and town.
The family would like to thank his brother-in-law and friend Terry Galusha and Vitas Hospice for their many acts of kindness in assisting Paul to move on. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich CT. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Vitas Hospice, 628 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, CT 06033. Please visit www.churchandallen.com to leave an online condolence for the Smart family.
