Robert David Ayers

Ayers- Robert David Ayers, 80 of Woodstock, CT died Saturday Jan. 9, 2016 at UMASS Medical Center, Worcester, MA. He was the husband of Pauline (St. Jean) Ayers. He was born July 1, 1935 in Springfield, MA. Robert was a teacher in the Windsor, CT school system for 35 years until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Norwich, and was a member of the Korban Fraternity (3rd order of St. Francis). He is survived by his 6 children: Mark Ayers of Albuquerque, NM, Bryan and his wife Mary Ayers of Enfield, CT, John and his wife Ann Ayers of E. Granby, CT, Susan Ayers of Tolland, CT, Kevin Ayers of Enfield, CT, and Scott Ayers of Fayetteville, GA; children with his wife, Dorothy Jean Ayers, who predeceased him. Mr. Ayers leaves 5 stepchildren from his wife Mary Ayers who also predeceased him. From 3 marriages, Mr. Ayers also leaves 6 stepchildren with his wife Pauline, 31 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Doris and her husband Ray Terfera of Longmeadow, MA. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Avenue, Norwich, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Norwich. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum , Norwich.
