Thomas Kevin McGoonan

Griswold-Thomas Kevin McGoonan, age 82, of Griswold, passed away at Hartford Hospital on May 18, 2025. He was born on January 14, 1943 in New York City to the late Thomas and Dorothy (Logan) McGoonan. He is married to Emily (Espinosa) McGoonan. She survives him.

Thomas spent 10 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He managed the waste water plant in Ledyard, Ct. for Lifetime Homes for many years and finished up his career path as a planner/estimator at the Newport Naval Shipyard in Rhode Island.

Besides his loving wife Emily, he is survived by his son David McGoonan and his wife Jayme and their daughter Shannon. He is also survived by his grandson Gage Wolfe and his Son-in-law Vern Marshal. He was predeceased by his daughter Holly.

Tom had many interests: writing poems, painting, reading, bird watching and model building. He spent many hours in his shop creating his own molds and making sure the tiniest details were shown in his latest projects. Many of his models were featured in model magazines. His replica of the John P. Holland submarine was displayed on the Intrepid Museum for many years.

Family and friends may visit Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich on June 12 th from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral home service at 10:00 AM. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Boswell Ave., Norwich, with full military honors. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung or Heart Association .
