Verna W. McCall

Verna Watrous McCall 95, of Oakdale, CT passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert Hale McCall, her mother Susan Hazel Watrous, her father Arthur Watrous, and siblings; Marion Shafer, Darolyn Watrous, Irving Watrous, and Linwood Watrous.

She was born December 22, 1926 in Norwich, CT. She was raised in Norwich and graduated from NFA. She then went to work for Block Office Supply Company for fifteen years. She also did a lot of volunteer work throughout her years. She received her Associates degree on May 12,1995 in specialized business with a curriculum in accounting.

She met the love of her life and then later married on February 14, 1958. She and Robert were married for 57 years. Together they raised three children, Jeffery, Robert and Robin, which were her heart and soul.

Verna enjoyed sewing, knitting and baking. Most of all, she loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother/great grandmother. Her family is what she lived for and is what made her the happiest.

Verna was kind, and gentle and had a beautiful soul. She supported all those she cared about to ensure they achieved their highest potential. She herself faced a lot of adversity, but she was a strong women and fighter.

Verna is survived by her adored children Jeff McCall, and (twins) Robert McCall and Robin Shaughnessy. Also survived by grandchildren. Tiffany (husband Jerry) Franceschetti ; Sarah (husband John) Wilson ; Susan (husband Miguel) Marrero; Kristy (significant other Jensen Rawn) Shaughnessy. She took pride in her eight great grand children; Weston and Cole Franceschetti, Chace and Jack Wilson Brayden, Noah and Ceceilia Marrero, and Jensen Jr. Rawn. She also leaves behind a special niece Dawn Fleming, and many other nieces and nephews.

It’s never an easy thing to do, to say goodbye, but we aren’t saying goodbye, we are saying see you later. We will meet again, but until then we will cherish all the memories we shared and will hold them close in our hearts. We love you.

A funeral home service for Verna will be held Monday, June 20, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Montville Funeral Home of Church & Allen, 53 Norwich-New London Tpke., Montville, CT. Following the funeral home service will be a burial at 2:00 PM at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Tpke., Norwich, CT.
