Victor James “Jim” Smotrich, 61, of Haverhill, MA and the North Shore area died unexpectedly from an aneurysm on September 11, 2012 at age 61. Compassionate, courageous and humble, he selflessly devoted his life to treating and rehabilitating those with mental illness as a psychiatric nurse. Brother of the late Betty Smotrich, Jimmy is survived by his son Seth Chase, nieces, nephew, close cousins, extended family and his brother Dr.Michael Smotrich. Jim's magnanimous heart and unwavering rectitude will be sorely missed and never forgotten. A memorial blog has been started at jimsmotrich.blogspot.com. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 12 pm at Church & Allen, 136 Sachem Street, Norwich, CT. Burial will follow at the Norwich Hebrew Benevolent Society, 38 Route 12, Preston, CT where Jim will be laid to rest alongside his parents Sam and Sarah as well as other members of the Smotrich family.
