Virginia Gay

Virginia Gay (Botti) of Norwich passed away unexpectedly in her home on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. Ginny was born on October 15, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York to Raymond and Josephine Botti (DeFazio). She moved to Norwich, CT as a child and spent the rest of her life living in the Norwich area and Spring, TX.

Ginny attended Norwich Public Schools and is a 1973 graduate of Norwich Free Academy. After graduating, she worked for Norwich Public Utilities as a purchasing manager for many years before retiring early in 2002.

Ginny was a giver to so many of her family members and was known to give anything she had if someone was in need. She cared so deeply about her family and was happiest when everyone was together. She especially loved spending time with her oldest granddaughter, Izabella.

Ginny is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Pounch, and her daughter, Izabella. A son, Christopher Pounch, his wife, Tory, and their daughter Eloise. A brother, Raymond Botti Jr. and two sisters, Anne Masterson (Kevin) and Jane LaLima (Bruce). Ginny is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Tricia and Brian LaLima, and Josh and Rachel Botti. Ginny was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Josephine, a sister, Christine Sherrick (Botti), a niece, Sarah LaLima, and two nephews, Timothy and Andrew Sherrick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ginny’s honor to the COPD Foundation.

Services will be held Saturday February 26, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Labenski Funeral Home 107 Boswell Ave. Norwich.
